Food Safety & Security

At Kingston, we live our "From Planting to Plate" slogan every day. By taking the necessary steps to ensure each product we sell not only meet our stringent internal Food Safety & Security guidelines but also those of U.S. and foreign Governments as well. Our team of food safety professionals walk and inspect crops from Western and Central U.S. all the way south where our international 'boots on the ground' team inspect the fields of grower partners in Central and South American as well. Along the way, we work hand in hand with our growers and customers to provide the knowledge and expertise to produce the safest possible fresh products.

Our food safety system is built on the foundation set by Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) together. Further, our experienced team works with growers and customers alike to enhance their own food safety programs as well. This ensures overall effectiveness in the supply chain by utilizing the latest knowledge and tools, including supporting trace-back/recall, handling food safety, regulatory guidelines and phytosanitary issues. Most importantly, we know our growers and we know the land and the people from which we harvest. Kingston has made a lasting commitment to walk the fields and talk to the harvest crews and explain our protocols, continuously reinforcing these standards for quality.

Safety Tips
Buy Right
You can help keep produce safe by making wise buying decisions.

Store Properly
Proper storage of fresh produce can affect both quality and safety.

Separate for Safety
Keep fruits and vegetables that will be eaten raw separate from other foods such as raw meat, poultry or seafood — and from kitchen utensils used for those products.

Prepare Safely
When preparing any fresh produce, begin with clean hands. Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and warm water before and after preparation.
